Awa Konate

Awa Konaté is a curator, art consultant, and founder of the curatorial platform Culture Art Society (CAS). Her curatorial practice, across acquisitions, collection building, and commissions, draws on archival research, Black feminist pedagogies, and memory work, with a particular interest in interdisciplinary practices of African descendant artists, and their resonance within global contemporary art.
Konaté has formerly consulted, curated, and developed several international exhibitions and public programmes for Serpentine Galleries, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Raven Row, and Barbican, to mention a few. She has published widely, including in Third Text, Foam Magazine, Phaidon, with her writing also appearing in publications by Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation, Zeitz MOCAA, Brooklyn Museum, and more. She is currently an Assistant Curator at the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi where she works across acquisitions, collection building, and commissions.
