About the event

ST25 From the Vault Opening

Friday, 21 February | 12:00 – 1:00 PM

Part 1: Rupert Museum | Part 2: Stellenbosch University Museum

Unveiling hidden narratives, recontextualizing memory, and reactivating archives—From the Vault opens a dialogue between past and present, breathing new life into works held within institutional collections.

This two-part opening at the Rupert Museum and Stellenbosch University Museum invites you to step into a layered experience where history is not static but in constant rehearsal. Through a curated selection of artworks, objects, and archival materials, we examine how collections shape, frame, and sometimes silence the stories we tell about ourselves.

Join us as we move between these two sites, unearthing the forgotten, interrogating the preserved, and reconsidering the act of collecting itself. This is not just an exhibition—it is an excavation, an intervention, and a call to witness what lies beneath and beyond the vault.
