Installation
Through my sculptural installation “Whisper of Mupangara” at the Triennale exhibition, I aim to celebrate African identity and resilience. The title refers to the thorn tree, a symbol of strength amidst adversity, which I use as a physical manifestation of resilience. Central to my work is the African philosophy of ubuntu, emphasizing interconnectedness. Using mainly organic materials found on site, I weave the earth with steel rods to create tubular forms that reach from the bottom to the top of the balcony. This connection with nature reflects a rehearsal for breathing through the issues of the land. Inspired by working with artists from different countries, I embrace experimentation with materials and strive to connect with the divine nature of improvisation and respiration.
