Installation

I came to Stellenbosch with the idea of illustrating what I saw, appropriating the life of the workers for my concept, interpreting the smells, the movements of the workers and making them visible to the general public. I didn't come to the Triennale with a fixed idea and a body of work that was already ready or had been done in advance.

Because the concept of the Triennale allowed me to. I observed the workers working with their hands. Their performances were so captured that I couldn't resist recording the sounds of their movements.

And visiting the wine factories I was embalmed by the smells of the wine and then I transported them inside Oude Libertas to my exhibition space.

Like a cotton farmer, which I am not, I succeeded in appropriating the field of wine by transforming it into a work of conceptual art by naming the majority of the lines by the names of workers, personalities in the field of contemporary art and friends.

The air doesn't smell to me but I've managed to give it one in my installation.

To have a grape plantation is not an easy thing but I managed to have a field of grapes as an installation by planting the workers' flag in it.

If the earth and the sheaths are our enemies, we won't have plants that will flower and give grapes to be transformed into wine and even transform the smells in my plant.

The earth is our eternal home. And breathing defines our existence.
