Kelvin Haizel

Kelvin Haizel investigates the contemporary condition of the image and expresses his ideas through video, photography, installations and objects. He holds BFA and MFA degrees in Painting and Sculpture from the College of Art and Built Environment, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He has exhibited widely in his home country Ghana, and in other countries including Nigeria, Mozambique, Comoros Island, France and Portugal. His body of work “things and nothings” showed in Mali, at the 11th edition of the Rencontres de Bamako, Biennale Africaine de la Photographie, entitled Afrotopia in 2017, and again showed in Afrotopia at the Afrika Museum in the Netherlands in 2018. He also served as guest curator for the maiden edition of the Lagos Biennale, 2017. As the winner of “A New Gaze 2, 2018”, the award for young contemporary photography by Vontobel Art Commission (Switzerland), his solo show “Babysitting A Shark In A Coldroom: Comoros Encounters” opened to the public at Vontobel, in Zurich, Switzerland.
